Margherita Laera is a London-based journalist writing in English and Italian for publications such as Italian Vogue, L'Uomo Vogue, Elle Décor, Velvet (La Repubblica), Io Donna (Corriere della Sera) and Wired. She is currently the London theatre correspondent for the Italian theatre review Hystrio and is a regular contributor to TheatreForum.
Margherita writes primarily about the arts including music, theatre, film, design, architecture and visual arts. Recent articles have been centred on interviews with Maarten Baas, Keith Tyson, Robert Wilson, Jamie Oliver, Anish Kapoor and Shirin Neshat.
Alongside her career as a journalist, Margherita is studying for a PhD in Performance Studies at Queen Mary, University of London, due for completion in 2010, and teaching undergraduate courses in the department.
Her research interests include Greek tragedy, contemporary European theatre, philosophy and translation studies. Her translation into Italian of Jean-Luc Lagarce's play "Nous, les héros" (1995) was published in March 2009 by Ubulibri, Milan.
